"Synesthesia: A Multisensory Experience" Interactive Exhibition

What color is silence?

What does purple sound like?

Is it possible to imagine music through touch, or an image through smell?

Created by the 19 members of the Cafesjian Teen Council, this new project explores the intersections between the senses, creating an environment where reality is no longer perceived through a single channel.

Synesthesia is a unique neuropsychological phenomenon—a distinctive mode of perception in which stimulation of one sense automatically evokes an experience in another, creating a blending of the senses. A person may see specific colors or shapes while listening to music, perceive letters and numbers in particular colors, or associate certain words with taste, scent, or people.

The exhibition brings together a range of media, including video art, installation, graphic works, sculpture, texts and interactive pieces that invite visitors to experience not only presence, but also absence — silence, darkness, and the unseen.

The works combine sound, color, form, material, scent, and memory, transforming them into personal and multisensory experiences. Within this space, the viewer becomes a participant: listening without seeing, seeing without hearing, touching and imagining.

Initiated by the ninteen members of the Cafesjian Teen Council, the exhibition, Synesthesia: A Multisensory Experience invites visitors to reconsider conventional perception and explore those subtle boundaries where another language of sensation begins to emerge.
