Spirit-Voice-Image

September 23, 2022
The focus of Spirit-Voice-Image educational program is Paris-based Armenian artist Nina Khemchyan's sculptures, which she created inspired by Mesrop Mashtots' hymns.

The noise that surrounds us today is often presented as “music.” In reality, these are distorted chaotic sounds, while sacred hymns can be perceived through silence, listening, and spiritual immersion. In music, silence is as essential as sound. If it is possible to hear sound with ordinary senses, ears, then one mustn’t try to hear silence, but listen to it, penetrate its depths, be silent and ponder upon it.

With Spirit-Voice-Image educational program we try to contribute to the formation of musical culture basics and develop practice of listening to spiritual music.
The objective of the educational program is to present Nina Khemchyan’s artworks and their connection with sacred hymns (sharakans) created by Mesrop Mashtots.

During the creative part of the program, participants will become acquainted with the content and melody of sacred chants and try to express their impressions and feelings from spiritual music through drawing.

The program is designed for participants of ages 10+ and families.

Participation is free with prior registration.
