«Քարպետ» ֆիլմի պրեմիերա

On October 2, the film Qarpet will premiere at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts’ Special Events Auditorium. The film is dedicated to the project of the same name by Alexander Nikitin and Dmitry Beketov, on view in the Center’s Sasuntsi Davit Gallery.
Drawing on their time living in Armenia and their sustained engagement with Armenian visual culture, the artists created a series that brings together the monumentality of the khachkar and the ornamental language of Armenian carpet weaving. Qarpet does not reproduce traditional forms; it reinterprets them in a new sculptural format. The works gain a new context alongside Artashes Hovsepyan’s monumental relief, Sasuntsi Davit .
The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film’s director, Arman Ayvazyan, and the artists, Alexander Nikitin and Dmitry Beketov. The discussion will be moderated by Armen Yesayants, curator of the exhibition and CCA’s Director of Exhibitions.
Entrance only with a prior registration.
