Print and Type Typography Printmaking Studio

July 08, 2022
Print and Type Typography Printmaking Studio is based on the exhibition, Hanging Garden: Dadivank and Beyond, on display at CCA from July 8 until September 4, 2022. The title of the studio is dedicated to the 110th anniversary of Armenian writer Teotik’s (Teotoros Labdjindjian) Print and Type volume publication.

The objective of the educational program is to explore Armenian letter art and the history of typography and printmaking, as well as the creation of modern fonts and their usage, promoting participants’ collective creativity.

During the educational program, participants are acquainted with the exhibition, Hanging Garden: Dadivank and Beyond in Sasuntsi Davit Garden Gallery and Gallery One.

The main focus of the creative part is the film Autumn Sowing by Maida Chavak and Nairi Khatchadourian, based on Anahit Hayrapetyan’s poem written during the Artsakh War.

Sargis Antonian’s Artsakh bold font featured in Autumn Sowing is prestened to the participants. Afterwards they try to create letters by printing those with the help of wooden stamps. After individual attempts, participants choose excerpts from Anahit Hayrapetyan’s poem and print a collective, large work together.

The program is designed for participants of ages 8+ and families.

Participation is free with prior registration.
