Gayane Aslanyan: “Sound and Color” Piano Recital

June 24, 2023
Cafesjian Classical Music Series presents:

Gayane Aslanyan: “Sound and Color”
Piano Recital

Program: Alexander Scriabin, Erik Satie, Maurice Ravel, Gayane Aslanyan

This concert is inspired by the phenomenon of synesthesia – a connection of one sense to another. Some of the famous composers also experienced that phenomenon – seeing certain colors when they heard certain musical notes. Alexander Scriabin was one of them.
Scriabin used this phenomenon in his works, the apogee of which is his “Prometheus” symphony. In the scores among usual musical instruments, there is also the instrument called Tastiera per luce, with which the color "melody" would be performed, and it was going to change the lighting colors of the hall.
The same idea is going to be used during this concert. In the first half of the concert Alexander Scriabin’s works are going to be performed, using his color scheme. In the second half of the concert, other composers’ works, including Gayane’s original composition, are going to be performed, which are chosen to resemble Scriabin’s style. During this half of the concert, Gayane’s color scheme is going to be used.

The concert starts at 20:00
Ticket price: 2.500 AMD
