The Spring Lecture series project of the Cafesjian Center for the Arts (CCA) this year presents lectures entitled "City: Image and Context" about the Yerevan modern architecture, monumental sculpture and public-political processes.

Time: 18:30
Venue: CCA's Special Events Auditorium

May 10
"Three Modalities of Yerevan Modern Architecture"

The history of the formation of the 20th century architectural image of Yerevan presents contradictory aesthetics: from a wider perspective, it is a battleground for broader ideological visions. These architectural visions were derivatives of various social, political, economic and cultural contexts; at the same time were the main factors that generated these contexts. The lecture will try to analyze the contradictions between these visions and their ongoing influence on current architectural developments.

The entrance is free.
