Libenský Brychtová: Silhouettes of the Тown

September 11, 2010 – January 31, 2012
“Libenský Brychtová: Silhouettes of the Тown” exhibition opened in Eagle Hall at the Cafesjian Center for the Arts in Yerevan on September 11, 2010 in the presence of artist Jaroslava Brychtová herself.

In 1988, the destructive power of nature shook the foundations of the northern regions of Armenia, leaving numerous cities and villages in ruins. The Libenský Brychtová sculptures, “Silhouettes of the Town”, are the artists’ response to the deadly disaster which claimed the lives of thousands; the sculptures expressing the tragedy of human suffering.

The exhibition “Libenský Brychtová: Silhouettes of the Town” reveals the limitless creativity of the Czech couple and their ability to transform the medium of glass and create a unique expression of form through light and space. Stanislav Libenský (1921-2002) and Jaroslava Brychtová (b. 1924) gave a new meaning to the application of glass and explored new creative horizons for it.

This exhibition is yet another sign of the bond that exists between the famous Czech artists Stanislav Libenský and Jaroslava Brychtová and Armenia.
